If the pitch of the ceiling is above 38° it is necessary to purchase a ceiling kit, which allows further rotation in the ball joint within the mounting bracket, allowing the ceiling fan to hang parallel to the floor.
One consideration that should be taken into account is that if the fan is installed on a pitched ceiling, the distance between the tip of the blade and sloped ceiling should be approximately 30cm (1ft) to allow maximum air circulation.
If this distance is reduced the airflow produced by the ceiling fan will also be proportionally reduced. To overcome this problem a down rod should be used in conjunction with the ceiling kit (see the down rod section).
